BARCELONA - After threatened not to play because of flu, Lionel Messi did not indicate he was suffering from pain by scoring two goals while playing as a substitute when Barcelona beat Osasuna 4-0 in the round of 16 first leg match of the Copa del Rey.

Barcelona's Argentine striker had previously announced that it will miss the game against Osasuna was due to the flu. However, one minute before the Copa del Rey match, Barcelona Messi released a statement that conditions had improved and he was included in the list of players.

Messi, who descended in the second half scored two goals and make a record tally this season to 31 goals. Messi scored his first goal with Cesc Fabregas headed in a cross on 72 minutes and left-foot shot in injury time. Two other goals Barca Fabregas scored in minute 14 and 19.

"I stopped throwing up and my body temperature is improved. I'm just suffering from stomach flu, that's all. I do not train in the morning but feeling better and ready to play," Messi said after the match.

Architect Pep Guardiola confirmed Barca do the right step by deciding Messi can not be played because the player did not practice because of illness.
